Make sure the kids remain loyal to both parents

Georgia readers may be interested to know that children from divorced families seem to feel more secure if they know that both parents love them and are completely committed to doing the right thing for them. Sometimes, it's hard for divorced parents to feel kindly toward one another when negotiating child custody issues, so one psychologist offered a few suggestions that might make the going easier.

Withdrawing funds from joint accounts during a divorce

Women in Georgia getting a divorce might be wondering how they are going to pay for it, especially if they don't have any income of their own. They might be unsure about if and when they should withdraw funds from joint accounts that they share with their spouses. Many states have laws restricting couples from withdrawing funds from joint accounts after the divorce proceedings have begun. Therefore, when is it appropriate for women to withdraw funds and how much should they withdraw?

Social media can change divorce proceedings

As social media has increasingly become part of everyday life, some Georgia residents may wonder how using social media sites can impact a divorce. Not only can oversharing on social media make an already complicated divorce more so, but information posted online might also be used against the person who posted it.

More expensive than ever to raise a child

Georgia residents may be interested in a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that says that it's more expensive than ever to raise a child. According to the report, it will cost parents $241,080 to raise a baby born in 2012. The cost rose 2.6 percent from 2011 and has gone up nearly 26 percent since 1960. The study is used by government agencies and courts to determine foster care costs and child support payments.
