Single fathers increasing in number

Georgia parents may be interested in a recent study that tracks a significant increase in the number of single fathers over the last several decades. This trend, some speculate, is due in part to new laws that are being passed in some states which are empowering fathers to assert their parental rights.

In some cases, a married couple may divorce and may amicably agree on child custody arrangements for a child. However, when a couple cannot agree on a custody arrangement, parenting time and a custody situation may be determined by a family law judge. Georgia movie fans may follow their favorite actors like Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe who, in spite of divorcing seven years ago, only recently sold a California home that they jointly owned. They bought the four-bedroom, four-bath duplex for more than $1.17 million in October 2005 and sold it on Jan. 17 for $45,000 more than the asking price of $1.39 million, gaining a net profit of $266,500.

John Cleese works overtime to make alimony payments

Georgia fans of 'Monty Python" actor John Cleese may be surprised to hear that paying spousal support to his ex-wife is not as easy as the general public believes. In a new interview, the 74-year-old comedian talked about his divorce, "The Alimony Tour" and the perception that he does not need to work due to his enormous success.
