Actress finds herself involved in heated custody dispute

Parents in Gwinnett County only want what is best for their children. However, there may be disagreements about what is in a child's best interest. One recent story shows that any family, even those in Hollywood, can become involved in a child custody dispute.

Ariel Winter is one of the stars of the popular show "Modern Family." Despite the success of her career, the 14-year-old has recently been dealing with some serious issues with her own family.

Amid accusations of abuse, the actress' older sister is seeking to become her legal guardian. Winter's mother is accused of physically and verbally abusing her daughter. The young girl's sister says their mother has even deprived her of food at times. The actress' sister also wants to be put in charge of her $500,000 estate.

Last month, the actress' sister was named her temporary guardian. The family will be in court next week for the guardianship hearing. Until then, the girl's mother is not allowed to have contact with the 14-year-old. The mother has denied accusations that she abused her daughter.

Emotions often run high as people work through family law issues, as this recent case illustrates. It is unclear how this specific case will turn out. However, residents of Gwinnett County who are dealing with similar family law issues may find it best to consult with an experienced family law attorney. Often, it is difficult for family members to resolve their issues on their own. However, an attorney will work towards a resolution that is fair for everyone involved. Most importantly, they will work towards a resolution that puts the child's needs first.
